Yampa Valley Window Cleaners was built long before it officially became a business.
Founders Christian and Rex both grew up in families that ran small businesses. Christian was raised around his family's Mexican restaurants—Papa Nando's Mexican Restaurant—while Rex grew up alongside Pedigo Construction, his family's concrete company. From an early age, we experienced the turbulence, pressure, and responsibility that come with keeping a business afloat. Along with it came a work ethic that doesn't quit and a clear understanding that quality and reputation are everything.
Christian spent years developing leadership and operational experience by helping open new restaurants, working in distribution, and managing teams across multiple positions in the restaurant industry. During this time, Rex worked for Christian as a bartender throughout 2018, giving him a firsthand look at how the business was run: high standards, accountability, and an uncompromising approach to doing things the right way. That experience reinforced a shared belief that would later become our mission—good business or no business at all.
Rex's background brings a different but equally demanding level of excellence. He attended LSU, where he became the most accomplished javelin thrower in school history, earning multiple NCAA championships and competing at an international level. He went on to graduate with degrees in computer science and physics, combining elite athletic discipline with deep technical and analytical expertise.
In February of last year, Christian called Rex with the idea of starting a business built on quality, trust, and control over how work is done. Without hesitation, Rex asked how he could help. Having known each other since childhood—growing up just down the street from one another—the trust was already there. Rex initially came on to build the website, optimize SEO, and support backend operations. After five months, he moved full time to continue investing in both Christian's vision and their shared success.
Christian originally moved to Steamboat Springs in 2021 and spent four years working for the ski resort, a role he genuinely loved. But like many locals come to realize, long-term sustainability in Steamboat requires building something of your own. Yampa Valley Window Cleaners was created to be exactly that: a business we're proud of, where quality is controlled, standards are non-negotiable, and customers are treated with respect.
